Implications of combined or repeated measures
Randomised controlled trials (RCTs) are the gold standard in clinical trials, but sometimes they are not feasible, e.g. for ethical reasons, so other approaches such as the regression discontinuity design (RDD) are required. The RDD is a quasi-experimental study design and a possible alternative to RCTs as it provides a kind of local randomisation around the threshold.
The Ph.D. project has three aims:
Introduction of the RDD in the context of health services research with a worked example [Hagemeier et al. (2022, ZEFQ)].
Show the application of the RDD with data from the new form of care “integrated cross-sectoral psycho-oncology” (nFC-isPO) [Hagemeier et al. (2023, BMC Health Services Research)].
Extension of the RDD to evaluate time effects [Article in submission, Status January 2025].
